The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Commemorates
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday by Joining Groundbreaking Civil Rights Event

MPAC Joins Other Civil Rights Organizations for event entitled "Dr. King's Legacy: Protecting Civil Liberties in the Wake of September 11th". This event, sponsored by a wide coalition of civil rights leaders, hopes to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, by celebrating his legacy of protecting the civil rights and dignity of all humanity. Organizers aim to use this event as a springboard for educational forums and action-oriented initiatives throughout the country to protect civil liberties in light of the events of September 11.

The Muslim Public Affairs Council is participating in an event this Saturday, January 19th between 12 PM and 2:30 PM at the Washington D.C. Convention Center uniting activists from around the country in pursuit of civil liberties. American Civil Liberties Union; Cecilia Munoz, National Council of La Raza; Karen K. Narasaki, National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium; a Representative from the Tikkun Community; State Legislator from National conference of Black State Legislators, Nura Masnavi, South Asian Activist.
