Religious Recognition Program for Girl Scouts of the Islamic Faith
Bismillah-hir-Rahman-nir-Raheem
Begin in the name of Allah, most beneficent, most merciful
Girl Scouting is all about doing good. The motto for Girl Scouts of the Islamic Faith is the following Qu'ranic
injunction:
"Serve Allah (Almighty God), and join not any partners with God Almighty; And do good-to parents, kinsfolk, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and what your right hands possess (captives in a war): For Allah (Almighty God) loves not the arrogant, the vainglorious---."
(Qu'ran 4:36)
On a practical level, the following saying of Sayyedna Mohammad (peace be upon him), the Last Prophet of God Almighty, can be the banner for the Girl Scout movement in the Islamic community:
"Feed the hungry and visit the sick and free the captive, if he be unjustly confined. Assist any that be oppressed, whether Muslim or non-Muslim."
The above words from Almighty God in the Holy Qu'ran and
the hadiath of Sayyedna Mohammad (pbuh) guides the Girl Scouts of the Islamic Faith and her relationship to the
world outside, to the society in which she lives and the community to which she belongs.
It is hoped that Girl Scouts of the Islamic Faith will become members of the society in which they live by contributing
to the peace, prosperity, and piety of the community.
